Canada Start-up Visa success rate - Statistics
The start-up visa programme is one of the fastest pathways for entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas to set up their businesses in Canada and get permanent residency.
A program that started in 2013 as a pilot program has undergone quite a few changes over a period of time and has evolved as a robust medium to attract entrepreneurial talent to Canada
In the last 5 years, more than 1200 applicants have been approved successfully for Canada start-up visas.

In terms of nationalities, applicants from Vietnam have consistently been at the top position of having successful approval for a Canada Start-Up visa, followed by applicants from India, China, Iran, and Hong Kong.
he success rate for the Canada start-up visa has also been quite high, as can be seen from the data below :

- 2016 approval rate: 99%
- 2017 approval rate: 78%
- 2018 approval rate: 63%
- 2019 approval rate: 80%
- 2020 (Jan – Mar) approval rate: 72%

With the rising success of the Canada Start-up visa program, IRCC has increased the number of visas to be issued under the start-up visa program to 500 every year from 2021 to 2023.
